Reference Sire
Neman
Nabeg x Nega (Aswan)
Sire of Nastasi

Excerpts from articles with reference to Neman:

Finke, Betty. "Gut Alemich Stud". Arabian Horse World November 1982. Jay Shuler Co., Inc., Palo Alto, California. p. 205.

"As Kilimanjaro's daughters grew up, the question arose as to what stallion to use on them. Though Egyptian stallions were used for awhile, Silvia really wanted to stay with the Russian lines, not because Russians were in fashion at the time - in fact they definitely weren't, because of the WAHO's ban on Russian horses - but because Tersk is one of the few stud farms in the world where one can see several generations of a family and all their produce together, giving a breeder a better chance to see what he will get from breeding various combinations. Though there was no auction in Russia that year, through private negotiations Silvia was able to acquire the mare Nida, a full sister to Nevada, and the stallion Neman, in spite of being told that she must have been crazy to buy horses that couldn't be registered. As it turned out, the risk paid off, as it did for so many breeders who bought Russian horses in spite of the uncertainty (for instance, as it did with Kale's purchase of *Marsianin).

Neman, by Nabeg out of the Aswan daughter Nega and a 7/8 brother to *Pesniar, is a small, very typey stallion with a rare golden bay color that turns positively radiant in sunlight. He has already proved to be an excellent cross on Kilimanjaro's daughters. From his first crop, Neposayda (x Neposa) is joining the broodmare band; her full brother *Neposaydon and full sister *Negia have both been sold to America. Nascha, a yearling daughter out of Neschi, is regarded by Silvia as the best horse she has bred. Like her dam and most of Kilimanjaro's stock, Nascha has a perfect head and beautiful movement. She was Reserve International Champion Filly at Aachen last year, when she was just over 10 weeks old, and the filly that beat her was her dam's full sister, Neschima. Neman, who was leased to Sweden last year, has also sired some excellent foals out of other mares."
